The Female Trinity

I am rereading a wonderful book by Marianne Williamson entitled: Enchanted Love, The Mystical Power of Intimate Relationships.
I stumbled upon this book three years ago and it was illuminating.
Williamson identifies the goddess that resides in each woman. She refers back to the ancient myths of Isis and encourages her readers to get back in touch with the Trinity of the goddess: sex, mysticism, and motherhood.

As I reflected on this trinity, I asked myself if I was honoring all of these gifts in myself.

Motherhood was the easy one to answer with a resounding YES! I am a nurturer by nature. And as great mom's know, part of our task is to learn to let go so each child can soar.

I also realize that mothering and nurturing can be two separate things. I am learning to nurture my husband without slipping into the "mother" role with him. I am striving to keep our relationship on a adult to adult level and not slip into the parent child dynamic which happened frequently in my last relationship.

Sex seems like a no brainer, but Williamson is referring to the whole of our sexual selves: our feminine power.
Females possess immense power and most of it remains untapped.. To learn the art of using our feminine power without dominating or emasculating males is sometimes a difficult task.

In a relationship this power can be used to bring a man to his knees. I fully embrace my femininity and I am also fully aware of my feminine power. I have used it, sometimes injudiciously in the past. My husband and I do our best to keep the delicate balance equal between us This is easier to do when your partner respects and admires the power of the feminine and does not seek to dominate or suppress this power.

Mysticism is a gift I am happy to possess. I am mystical, intuitive and it's all somewhat mysterious. This powerful gift wakes a mother up seconds before her baby begins to cry. It's the feeling in your bones that something isn't right - and is right. It's the awareness of the spirits of our loved ones surrounding and protecting us, and it's the gift of seeing angels who appear throughout our lives in various human disguises.

I have always been utterly content with being born female. I love my sex and despite the challenges and the setbacks women often endure, I wouldn't trade my trinity of goddess qualities for anything.
