No, I'm not referring to the earthquake in the DC area this morning, but of movement in the universe- going my way for the first time in a very long time.
A few weeks ago a friend I had reconnected with on Facebook sent me a message. She had some creative ideas and some real job leads. Based on her suggestions, I changed focus and began applying in different fields: namely non-profits.
I joined the AmeriCorps team and sent my resume to Habitat in Jacksonville and St. Johns Reads to name two. She also gave me the name of an online site that advertises jobs for numerous non-profit companies in this area. I have sent my resume to fifteen different places for positions ranging from office assistant to Special Events Coordinator.
A couple of days later, another friend told me about a Charter School in Jax hiring. I just made the deadline and got a call back last week for an interview.
I am now getting emails from other places requesting interviews. Finally!
This past couple of weeks have been amazing! I started to feel the path clearing. I felt like a plow that has been sitting in a field, waiting for spring to arrive and I could begin to turn the earth so those long planted seeds can finally germinate.
Something cosmically, had to change. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but I felt the shift. There were boulders and rocks strewn across my field. Each one had to identified, then picked up and moved out of the field.
Some required letting go of things I cannot change, and others I realized weren't really boulders, but rocks that won't stop me from planting my garden- I just imagined them larger than they were.
In the end, I decided to embrace the process, to stop trying to manipulate the outcomes. I will just stay on track and keep the faith- in myself.
Guess what? Those seeds have already begun to germinate. I have two phone interviews for jobs with non-profits and an interview for a teaching position that looks very promising.
Wouldn't it be great to be faced with the dilemma of having to choose from among three or four job offers?
