Life.
We leave the dark, warm safety of our mother's womb
We push and shove our way out in a bloody battle that leaves us exhausted,
First lesson learned:
Life on this planet is no easy thing.
We continue to claw and scratch out an existence.
We fight for attention and recognition.
We strain to be heard,
to stand above the crowd.
We want it all-
And we will do what it takes to build that fortress.
We believe that if we have enough money,
enough power, enough prestige
We are untouchable- we are safe from harm.
But, the fates intervene and at some point,
We lose it all-
We are brought to our knees,
We are humbled, and stripped bare of all that we once held dear.
In the end, we realize-
The power, the fame, the prestige did not define us.
It did not protect us from Life.
In the end, we realize our only true fortress-
the only thing that matters
is Love.
That we gave Love,
And that we were Loved.
