Is there anything more exhausting than changing up your normal routine?
Oh, it's ok if you are embarking on a journey, or starting something new like a job or going to the gym, but none of those scenarios describe my exhaustion. No, mine is more mundane. I have spent the past four days administering the state mandated achievement tests.
A general education teacher spends a couple of hours each morning testing her students. The ESE students I serve are tested all day in small groups. So I read the directions over and over again:
"you may not have any electronic device in your possession even if it is turned off, you may not write on the answer booklets, only bubble one choice on your answer booklet, you may only have a number 2 pencil and your four-function calculator on your desk."
Well, you get the picture.
After the test begins, I have plenty of time to think, and daydream. Once in a while I can jot a few ideas down on paper. But, most of the time I end up walking around the room to stay awake, checking to make sure everyone is bubbling correctly, and staring out the window wishing I was on the other side of the glass.
