Little Yellow Flower

Small, yellow blossom,
sunny, and bright.
You bring a smile to my face
when my gaze falls upon you
as I stand at the window
sipping coffee.

My small stone today is a little yellow flower that is growing in my yard. This fledgling blossom is all alone surrounded by winter's dead grass and weeds.

I can see this little flower from my kitchen window. As I prepared dinner this evening I thought of how that flower makes me smile. It seems to bring the promise of hope. In the midst of the decay from last summer, this flower has pushed through the hard, dry dust and raised its spunky yellow head towards the sun.

My little, yellow flower helps me remember my "word(s)" for 2012, Believe. It's my mantra for this  year.  If the flower can survive and thrive in the midst of winter, I believe I can flourish wherever I am planted. If I believe in myself, I will stay positive no matter what life throws at me.

I gave my yellow flower a drink of water this afternoon and banked its roots with plenty of leaves. The temperature is dropping and a hard freeze is forecast tonight. I have faith my little flower will survive.
It's resilient, like me.
