Find Me

Dear Friends,

I had an idea for a sampler for my wall- "Find Me." The words remind me of how far I've come the past few years, how many walls have come tumbling down.

Reprint from a previous post...

Find me-
I was once told, "there is more to you than meets the eye." Isn't that true of most people?

We tend to wear many masks. People see only what we choose to show them. Over time we can build so many defenses and walls that are authentic selves are buried deep inside. These walls become so much a part of us that we aren't even aware that they exist. It is only after an experience confronts a resistance that the wall comes into focus. Through the blessing of love and the trust we find in another do we begin to peel off the veils that obscure our authentic selves.

Letting down the defenses, making an effort to shed the veils takes time and it can be a painful process. I did not do this easily, I clung to some and readily shed others, but each time I exposed another layer my soul whispered, "find me."

And then one day our souls are naked, our authentic selves are completely revealed. Every scar, every flaw unadorned and shining, along with our pureness of spirit, our goodness, our frailty. Only then can we be truly free to love someone with our whole heart.

It is what we long for, what our souls crave. To me it is the meaning of a soul mate- to find another person who will reveal him/herself as fully as you reveal yourself.
